BLM RMP for Western Oregon, please comment

Postby Rx2Ride » Mon Jun 08, 2015 5:48 am

The BLM is doing it's Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the 2.5 million acres it manages in western Oregon. They have released their Draft EIS and the comment period is April 24 to JULY 23. Every comment really does help to promote our sport.

It's important to let the BLM know what you think about how they manage this public land:
1. You can send them an email just simply saying that you ride OHV trails and would like to see more of them.
2. You can read through their Draft EIS and make specific comments.
3. You can go to one of the meetings listed below:

I attended the last meeting in Salem representing ARRMC. The meeting consisted of county commissioners and tribal council members arguing about who would get which timber sale dollars. Zach spoke for a whopping three minutes about recreation, which conjured more whooping and hollering about increased vandalism and crime, and who would pay for more law enforcement.

Though it was not apparently useful for me to be there, I was disappointed that I was the ONLY person there representing *any* form of recreation.

It's important for all those folks to know that motorcycle riders are interested in the process and have a stake in what happens to those lands. Even being in the room with your "Moto" shirt on, meant that trail riders had a presence there.
Thank you for being there.
