I agree it's a really great idea. The problem lies in making it happen. I have been keeping an eye on this thread. My concern is getting the authorization to use the land. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (Coos Bay North to Florence) is administered by the US Forest Service. I would see it very difficult to get the permit for the event.

There are a few people in the "sand" industry I would suggest contacting that may be helpful because they may have worked w/ the USFS in the past. First would be the folks that run Riley Ranch. They have recently opened their RV Park and have built an MX track. They are hosting a rally on Nov 17th to help support keeping the dunes open for motorized recreation. (There are proposals in the works to close almost all of the trails in Florence. :( )
Another would be the guys at Fullbore Innovations. http://www.fullboreinnovations.com/They have help put on the races at both Dunefest & Sand fest. The last one I can think of would be Steve at Dunestar Racing http://www.dunestarracing.com/xcart/home.php?cat= They are Kind of new in the industry but, very enthusiastic. They had a vendor booth at Dunefest this year and are also attending the rally at Riley Ranch on the 17th. You can also find them on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/DuneStarRacing

Here's the filer for the Rally:

I would def attend an event like this if one were to be organized! (and spread the word too, of course) :ride

I have contacted Larry Robinson down at RR, and the lady doing the rally next weekend is coming by our clubhouse tonight. I do see the strong posability of being able to do it as long as I can get a Quad club to go in on it with me, not sure how my club would feel about it but myself and a few other members are interested in putting something together.

Unfortunately, I am unaware of any active clubs in the area. (Doesn't mean there aren't any of course)

Steve w/ Dunestar, the Fullbore guys or Sandlake Duners aka. SLD Here's their forum http://www.sandlakeduners.com/(I forgot about them the first time!) All might be good organizations to contact. SLD is an informal group but they are large and usually do at least one organized dune clean up a year.

Most of the livestock get out of the way, but there is a big black bull that deserves a wide berth.
