JCTRA Club Camp'n'Ride, Sept. 14-16 @ Brown's Camp

Postby mikeames » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:19 pm

We had to cancel the last JCTRA Club Camp'n'Ride in August due to an increased fire danger in Hood River and we postponed it to the weekend of September 14-16th...the only question was where.Since Hood River (Kingsley) still has a high fire danger we've decided to move the club camp'n'ride to Brown's Camp in the Tillamook State Forest over the weekend of September 14-16.

Brown's Camp has about 30 camp sites, all of which are first come, first served. I recommend arriving as early as possible to obtain a good site.
Like Kingsley there are no services (power, or water) at the campsites, but there is a stream running through the CG that's big enough to wash up in, but not really much for swimming. The website shows a couple of water faucets in the campground, but I'm not sure they are working right now. Plenty of room for RV's or tents. I called them to verify that YES WE GET TO HAVE A CAMPFIRE!!

Here's a link to the Brown's Camp website. http://cms.oregon.gov/odf/tillamookstat ... scamp.aspx

There are vague directions on the website above. By Friday afternoon I will have Racing Arrows marking the way after you turn off of Route 6.

There are many, many miles of awesome trails for both bikes and quads the take off out of Brown's Camp. Maps are often available at the local stores and there's one online @ http://cms.oregon.gov/odf/tillamookstat ... fohv09.pdf (Very slow opening file that is probably a little big for most printers...)

Remember that Oregon now requires operators license for most people. You can find more information on that @ http://licenseinfo.oregon.gov/index.cfm ... m_id=14265

FYI, the Trailsmen Motorcycle club will be having a Poker Run at Lyda Camp just a short ride from Brown's Camp. The poker run is scheduled for Sunday and you can find more information on that @ http://www.trailsmen.org/

Saturday night the club will be hosting a potluck BBQ. The BBQ is open to all current club members and their immediate families. A reasonable number of guests of your family may also attend.
The club will be providing the main course and drinks, as it a potluck we are asking you to provide side dishes and/or deserts.
In order to plan for the event (that means bring enough food) I NEED EVERYONE WHO IS PLANNING ON ATTENDING THE SATURDAY NIGHT BBQ TO RSVP BY WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH!! In that RSVP we need to know HOW MANY ADULTS AND HOW MANY CHILDREN you are planning to bring. PLEASE RSVP TO via email to: mike.ames@jctra.org by September 12.

I plan on being onsite around noon on Friday. Since campsites are first come first served I cannot reserve a site for anyone, but if we know you're coming we'll do our best to keep the group together.
