KTM 450 Battery Recommendation

Postby Maverick » Thu Sep 25, 2014 9:38 pm

Might someone with some experience recommend a battery for my KTM 450? I've read that some of these aftermarket batteries are up to 3 pounds lighter than stock & have more cranking amps.

Thank you.

Jon,
Assuming you're referring to the Shorai Battery. I'm running a couple of them and have had great results. Two others haven't had such good luck, but I question their battery maintenance. Am very happy with mine and I say go for it. By the way, we have an OMRA Sponsor, Batterystuff.com who sells them, Steve Deguyter, aka: BRN2RDE, so you might contact him.

I have two of Battery Stuff's Scorpion LI batteries, never a problem and one of them has worked its way through winter in Bend in the 310 Husky and the other one is doing a fine job of starting a XR650.

Can't believe how much lighter the Scorpion is compared to the stocker.

+2 for the Shoria batteries. Got 2 running and getting a 3rd for another.
MY kids manage to run the starters and fans continuously and the stocker gel batteries (any mfg) which don't
seem to hold up more than a year.
If if get 2 years I will be happy!!!!
Li batteries:
More power (2x)
more cranking amps
More residual power
seems to have reserves the gel's can't maintain
smaller
lighter
No more voltage drop over short periods of time.
xt500max

and no more trickle charging any more!!!!
