There's been reports of out-of-state riders needing to purchase an Utah OHV sticker to ride in Moab ...even if you have an OHV sticker from your own home state.

Has anybody heard anything more about this?

Thanks! E-Ticket

Yeah, I have heard the same stories. I would check in the regional sections of KTM Talk and Thumpertalk for the whole story, though. I have been there with my Jeep several times and want to get there with both my bikes, mountain and motor. It is an amazing place.

Great report! I thought you rode a berg? Why did you take the KTM over the berg?

I *did* ride an '08 KTM 450 EXC-R. Which I loved very much and still miss. :(
I now ride a '10 Husaberg FE 390 :D and am putting on a Dunlop trials tire for the woods and Moab.

Cheers! E-Ticket

My bad I didn't realize when the original post was made. I knew you use to ride Orange and switched to blue and yelllow. I thought this was a current RR and thought you switched back to Orange.

awsome trip

Postby dieterbear » Thu Aug 12, 2010 12:43 am

made my first trip to MOAB last year and can't wait to go back. Great pictures and videos. It is a once in a life time ride. I have never rode anywhere else close. Also for those asking about the OHV stickers I had to check when I took my trip. Utah honors Oregon's stickers so you do not need to purchase one. Sounds like a great trip. I know I hope I get to go again and sure anyone that has rode there want's to go back again for another ride. Be safe and ride hard.

Yah, we're going back this time with Dunlop D803 trials tires on the back. It *should* make things even easier ... but I bet it provokes some ... "moments" .... as well.

But I still be liking that Dunlop D803 trials tire. :ride

We're going back to Moab next October, 2013.
And we have heard many stories about whether or not you need a Utah OHV permit as well as an Oregon one.

I've done some searching and it *looks* like we do not need a Utah permit if we're registered (OHV permit) in Oregon.
I *think*.... It's not super clear.

Cheers! E-Ticket

gasgas of moab does a ride in early april, guided for about $350 for a 3 day trip, camp right on the river and knows and shows you an amazing bunch of riding. I did it last april and would go back again but I think Mexico is calling for the Norra !000 this april. If anyone wants to go to moab let me know and I'll get you Jim Ryans info (he also has rental ktm's and GasGas bikes if you don't want to tote yours down)
I've been told that my caution light is broken! montesa 315r, gasgas pampera, gasgas 300ec GasGas 250ec Bmw r1100rt

Hmm .... what river/area?

So far, we're only familiar with the Soverigbn Our only experience so far is with the Sovereign Trail, the Slick Rock (3 mile practice loop), and Fins-n-Things (and some parts further out from there).

here is a link to Jim's ride for this year. We covered a lot of ground, had a couple different skill level of rides. I rode the more challenging of the 2 and had a great time. Was told by Randy, one of the guides " what ever you do don't follow Jim" at some point on a ride he grabbed me and the only other guy on a gasgas and said "follow me. I've got a special place to show you. We rode up a creek for about a 1/2 mile, a couple of good crashes in the water, then dead ended to a rock wall, said we can just lif the bikes and ride a little ridge above the creek and get past this. It was an adventure that Jim ended up going for a serious swim. If you can go I highly recommend it. was much different riding then I'm used too, but sure had a lot of fun. Was really enjoying my Flexx bars on some of the rocky sections.
