Hi Everyone,

The Beaver Dam Rock Pit (also known as the Browns Camp Shooting Pit) will be closed Saturday, April 18, 2015 for a volunteer clean-up.

The clean-up activity starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 1:30 PM. The pit will re-open for public use once the volunteer clean-up is over.

The more folks we have helping to clean-up the pit, the quicker it will be back open for public use.

Please spread the word!

Thanks!

To those of you whining about 4WD groups having more input in the TSF (and less motorbike trails), here's one reason why: apathy. Don't see one motorbike group in the list below. The world is run by those that show up.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Tillamook State Forest on Saturday to participate in the SOLVE clean-up project. All of you deserve a huge pat on the back for your hard work! This is the 23rd year that the Tillamook State Forest has hosted a clean-up effort as part of the annual SOLVE IT! Earth Day event. It was a great day with a lot of enthusiastic folks from all walks of life pitching in to work with district recreation staff to pick-up after our messier forest visitors.

Here are some highlights accomplished by the 75 volunteers who participated in the clean-up. They:

· Collected 1 washing machine from a landing that had been used for target shooting

· Cleaned-up target shooting debris from the Beaver Dam rock pit

· Used 2 winches to collect 7 industrial air conditioners and 100 feet of copper tubing that had been thrown 200 feet down a draw in the Wheeler Basin

· Filled to overflowing, 1 dumpster (30 cubic yards) with mixed garbage collected from sites along Highway 6

· Filled 1 dumpster (30 cubic yards) with 209 tires collected from State Forest Land over the course of one year

· Partially filled 1 dumpster with 10 cubic yards of trash in the Wolf Creek area

· Removed invasive Scotch broom and blackberry from the Reehers Camp area

· Completed the spring spruce up work in the horse camp portion of Reehers Camp

Organizations & Groups Represented

· Oregon Equestrian Trails, NW Chapter

· Jolly Jeeper

· Flat Broke and Four Wheelin’

· Portland United Mountain Pedalers

· Gitout.com

· Trucks in Tight Spots Off-Road

· Cascade Cruisers

· Our Gang Off-Road

· Northwest Firearms

· Willamette Valley Jeep Club

· Pacific Coast Rover Club

· Oregon Hunters Association

· Hubs-In 4x4

· The Mackey Family and Friends

A HUGE Thanks goes to our site sponsors

· SWATCO Sanitary Service, Inc. of Banks, Oregon donated 3 dumpsters (30 cubic yards each) and the hauling services

· Oregon Department of Transportation allowed use of the ODOT Sandshed Facility at the summit of Highway 6 as a staging area

Thanks again – Tillamook State Forest Volunteers are AWESOME!
