Parents post here for youth escorts & adult helpers

Postby Tawmass » Fri Jan 14, 2011 11:19 am

This thread is where parents can post that they need escorts for their under-16 racers, and adult riders can post that they are available. The volunteers can first contact the clubs to see what level of supervision they require, and then send out PM's to match up riders and escorts.

How we do this:

Postby BRN2RDE » Fri Jan 14, 2011 2:22 pm

That's perfect. Thanks Tom.

For Parents, please post up riders class, approximate skill level and what particular event you need covered. The more info on ability, the better we can do matching them up. Don't be afraid to get the ball rolling early before the season starts. And don't believe that your kid is not fast enough to warrant this list. I would like to give a chance for every kid at some point to be mentored and escorted. That is a sure confidence booster.

For Potential escorts, please post up your skill level and what events you may be able to cover. Now is the time to step up and give a bit back to our sport!

One of the fine Volunteers that stepped up to help will contact you via a PM or Email with the details needed to go forward, and once a match is made, that will be noted here.

I am certain that this can work out to the advantage of everyone involved.

The only XC race where this will be an issue is the China Hat ISDE right? All the other XC events it is not an issue or has something changed? We have made other plans for the weekend of the China Hat ISDE but we are thinking of hitting the Devils Head. There is no way I can keep up wit the kid. If we do attend the Devils Head I would be more than happy to sweep the event;)

The level of supervision will vary from area to area, and club to club. We will be contacting each club prior to their event and post up what they want/need here.

March 20th XC Race Eddieville

Postby AusGrl » Fri Mar 04, 2011 1:30 pm

G'Day - I am going to be checking in with all of the event organizers before each race regarding requirements for youth escorts.
So here is the information for the next race up in Goldendale WA.
According to Debbie of the Over The Bars Gang these are the requirement for this race as far as youth escorts are concerned: "Our race is on private property. We don't require escort riders. The Jr C's don't need one. The track is small enough that you can walk around it. The Jr A's & B's ride on the motocross track. You could certainly follow your child if you wanted. You would need to check in with me first. I'll issue you a vest. We usually have 2 or 3 sweep riders out on the course with the Jr A's & B's."
So if you are going to ride escort please remember you have to check in with Debbie.
Thanks and have a great race.

China Hat escort requirements

Postby BRN2RDE » Fri Apr 08, 2011 1:04 pm

Hi all - here are the requirements for youth riders at China Hat this year - please read as there are some changes. Thank you

· The Forest Service is requiring that all riders, including youth riders, show that they have an ATV safety training card as required according to their age (this year it's for all riders age 40 and under).

· All riders under 16 will require one-to-one escorts who have entered in the Escort class. Each escort signs up to ride with one youth rider, specifically -. These escort riders may not be entered in another competitive class.

· Youth riders will not be allowed to proceed beyond a checkpoint without their escort rider accompanying them. (starting this year, they will be allowed clock across the line when they want, but they must wait on the other side for their escort rider. When their escort rider arrives, both riders will assume that new (if later) start time into the next section. This way the youth rider will not be penalized if he can get to the check on time but his escort is late. Both riders will also assume a new due time at the next check, calculated off of the prescribed interval time for that section

Also Riders under 18 must be accompanied to sign-up by a parent or legal guardian. (Bring notarized proof of guardianship.) This is MANDATORY.

Have a great ride and be safe
