Re: ride powerline east of Mowich

Hey Bob I snuck off and rode that area after working only half a day with you guys back in September, I did the power line and a bunch of roads and trails on Walker Butte. You can get some speed and air on the power line road, too bad for all the blind hills. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it...

Waldo-Cultus ride

What a blast, perfect conditions Saturday morning. And when you get back to North Waldo you can sit on the beach and drink beer (or whatever). If you haven't been to the top of Cultus Mtn its worth the rocks to get there.

Re: What GPS to buy?

A cheap option for off road is GaiaGPS, you can get it just as an app for your phone, works well enough on an iphone without cell service. All the topo quads in the country for $20, good deal. Problem is the topo quads haven't been updated in 30+ years so I use google earth at home to check out rout...

Re: Huckleberry flats open still?

Its terrible most of the time (meaning fun). From Waldo lake north to little cultus, going between Irish and Taylor lakes, check out the off road use maps for Willamette and Deschutes and you should be able to see the road. Probably very dusty now, most years it would still have snow.

Re: 8 oz fire extinguishers (Cold Fire)

So I talked with the forestry folks and I'm told at level 2 in national forest, at least down here in South Cascades, even motorcycles need the extinguisher. I believe the same is true on BLM lands. No blasting either. http://www.oregon.gov/odf/FIRE/Closures/RUSC0215.pdf But I've heard different rul...

Re: Huckleberry flats open still?

Should be, you can check the "Huckleberry OHV" page on Willamette NF website for a number to call to double check. Its WL3 so Level 2 restrictions apply: http://www.oregon.gov/odf/FIRE/Closures/RUSC0215.pdf I'm riding Taylor Lake road tomorrow but I plan to leave early, supposed to push 10...
